The Book of Orifiel - Angel of Wisdom & Understanding
Oriphiel Orphiel, one of the seven angels. Related to Saturn. One of the most important angels of the esoteric tradition, considered to be an archangel by many angelology specialists. Also known as the Angel of the Forests or Angel of the Wilderness. In Kabbalah, he is associated with Binah, which best incorporates Saturn’s qualities. The first mention of this archangel was by Pope Gregory I (590 till 604). He places Oriphiel on the list of the seven primary archangels.
Regarded as a “Prince of the Order of Thrones”, one of the highest angelic hierarchies, often described as "full of eyes", symbolising divine awareness and vigilance. He is linked with steadfastness, constancy, and the virtue of integrity. Under the dominion of Saturn, he is therefore connected to time, realisation,wisdom and transformation, particularly in alchemical and Kabbalistic thought, where he governs the spiritual transmutation of lead (personality) into gold (spirit).
