Eliphas Levi (1810-1875) was one of the leading names in the revival of Western occultism, most significantly with his great leap of imagination that linked the tarot trumps to the letters of the Hebrew alphabet. This posthumous publication was a translation by William Wynn Westcott, and first published in 1896.
In this work, each short chapter outlines the meaning of one of the twenty-two Tarot trumps and is followed by a Westcott’s notes describing the card's iconography and summarizing interpretations aligned to Lévi's earlier publications, and aligns the major arcana symbolism with a detailed description of the ritual of the sanctum regnum, or the Kingdom of God.
Highly recommended for those studying the mysteries of the Tarot.
