Stone and gem lore is endless. Every culture has its own beliefs about specific stones, and those beliefs are often tied to that culture's history, geography, and spiritual practices, so I have tried to use only those beliefs that seemed traditional and definitive or ones that I found confirmed in more than one source. I have used the terms stone, crystal, gem, and gemstones all refer to a mineral object which should be considered the same.

A magical and symbiotic connection has always existed between human beings and gems. This ancient knowledge has been passed down to our day and with the emerging popularity of holistic health and healing the use of gemstones is again making its way into modern life.

The magickal grimoires indicate the numerous ways in which a stone or gem can be made to serve magicians. Their most common usage lies in the creation of, magickal rings, amulets or talismans which may be used to attract luck, banish evil influences, to obtain wealth, to secure love, and gain occult knowledge.
