The Book of Placement - (The Art of Feng Shui).

Informational eBooklet

Feng Shui, an ancient Chinese practice, focuses on harmonizing individuals with their surrounding environment to promote well-being and prosperity. Rooted in Taoist philosophy, it emphasizes balance and the flow of energy (chi) through spatial arrangements in homes and workplaces. Practitioners strategically position furniture, buildings, and objects according to specific guidelines to maximize positive energy flow and mitigate negative influences. Principles such as the Bagua map are used to assess different areas of life by aligning them with compass directions and elements like wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. Feng Shui considers the impact of architecture alongside natural features such as light directionality and room shapes. It extends beyond mere arrangement into color theory and symbolic meaning, aiming for a holistic approach that integrates aesthetics with functionality. By adjusting environmental factors within these parameters, Feng Shui seeks to enhance health, wealth, relationships, and overall happiness for individuals living or working in their environment.

Feng Shui also known as Chinese geomancy, is a pseudo-scientific traditional practice originating from ancient China, which claims to use energy forces to harmonize individuals with their surrounding environment. The term feng shui literally translates as "wind-water" in English. This is a cultural shorthand taken from the passage of the now-lost Book of Burial recorded in Guo Pu's commentary.
